Connecting Generations for School Success

Supported by

Since 2016, through the generous support from Alcoa Foundation EdConnect has faciliated the ‘Connecting Generations for School Success’ project across Kwinana, Peel and the Upper South West regions of Western Australia. The goal of the project is to sustain our community volunteer program in the region so that more young people are supported to succeed emotionally, socially and academically.

Students across the regions receive academic and social support while older generations have the opportunity to remain active and connected to their communities.

Local Liaison Officer Karen Barden (L), CEO Gerri Clay (M) and Senior Partnership Advisor Alcoa Foundation Sally Fairnie (R).

Our Volunteers in the program:

  • Provide mentoring for students at risk of not achieving their educational potential
  • Provide learning support in classrooms or one-on-one
  • Make a difference in their local communities
  • Improve their own wellbeing and connections

2021 Renewed Partnership

Students across Kwinana, Peel and the upper South West regions will receive additional support to successfully navigate social, emotional and academic challenges thanks to a US$180,000 partnership between EdConnect Australia and the Alcoa Foundation.

Alcoa has agreed to continue supporting delivery of EdConnect’s ‘Connecting Generations for School Success’ program for the next three years after first partnering with EdConnect in 2016.
