Connecting Generations for School Success: EdConnect and Alcoa Foundation Renew Partnership

EdConnect Australia announces an extension of their partnership with the Alcoa Foundation, ensuring three more years of transformative impact in Western Australian schools.

Since 2016 the partnership between EdConnect and the Alcoa Foundation, has seen over $1.1 million in funding channeled into the ‘Connecting Generations for School Success’ project, enabling volunteers to support the education of around 1000 young people across Kwinana, Peel, and the upper South West regions each year.

This vital partnership will allow EdConnect to expand its school volunteer program, offering even more students the emotional, social, and academic support they need to thrive. But the benefits don’t stop there – volunteers will also stay active, engaged, and connected to their communities, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

Alcoa Foundation President Caroline Rossignol said they were proud to continue and grow the partnership with EdConnect and contribute more than $500,000 in funding over the next three years.

“The Connecting Generations for Success program has already had a significant impact in south Western Australian communities. Our investment aims to support more students in more classrooms, and we are excited to announce the growth of the program into Victoria.”

“This partnership with the Alcoa Foundation is a game-changer,” said Michael Pailthorpe, EdConnect CEO.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for people of all ages to come together, share their experiences, and make a lasting difference in the lives of young Australians.”

EdConnect will be working with more schools in 2025 and will have fun, flexible volunteering opportunities including reading support, helping in the classroom, and mentoring, as well as before school Breakfast Clubs to suit busy or working volunteers.

“All of our volunteers tell us they get more out of it than the students do!” says Karen Barden EdConnect Area Manager, “I am excited about bringing together more caring community members and schools to make a real difference and help students thrive.”
