Opening Doors Through Connection

Recently Ardoch reached out to EdConnect and advised that sadly they won’t be continuing their programs and operations in 2025.

Over the last month, working closely with the Ardoch board and leadership team (including multiple meetings both in their office and online), the EdConnect Board and Management have offered Ardoch Education volunteers, schools, and funders the opportunity to continue within the EdConnect learning support program.

When we compared our programs we quickly realised EdConnect learning support volunteers and Ardoch Education volunteers have very similar roles. Both are classroom-based, where volunteers work under the direction of the teacher, provide additional support to students identified by the school as needing additional support and help improve the conditions of learning.

A Common Goal
Both Ardoch and EdConnect:
1.    have high expectations of volunteers
2.    comprehensive code of conduct
3.    robust screening and onboarding processes and a
4.    commitment to capturing the impact volunteers make

EdConnect will also continue the Ardoch Literacy and Numeracy Buddies program (corporate letter writing program with students) in 2025.

What does this change for you as an EdConnect volunteer, school, or supporter?
The answer is absolutely nothing. EdConnect will be business as usual as we prepare ourselves to welcome the new cohort of volunteers, schools and some funders over from Ardoch. This will positively impact our numbers, predominantly in Victoria, as we will grow the number of schools, the reach of our volunteers and, most importantly, have the ability to provide more support for students at risk of disengagement from their education.

EdConnect is committed to continuing the Ardoch legacy through providing their volunteers an opportunity to continue to support students at lower ICSEA-rated schools to achieve their full potential through engaging in education and raising their aspirations.

The inclusion of the Ardoch programs serendipitously aligns with EdConnect Australia’s strategic plan for growth.

In what has been a very difficult time for the Ardoch Board and leadership team, they have been committed to ensuring volunteers, schools and their programs can continue where possible.

We look forward to welcoming Ardoch volunteers, schools and funders into the EdConnect program.

If you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the team on 1800 668 550 or edconnect@edconnect.org.au.

Yours sincerely,
