Christmas Spirit across the generations

Through the Victorian Government Emerging Stronger Grant funding, EdConnect commenced a wonderful intergenerational program that connected Retirement Villages with local Member schools with the objective of promoting volunteering opportunities within EdConnect and more widely across Australia.  

Leading into the Christmas period, EdConnect Australia asked some of our schools local to Retirement Villages if they would participate in a Christmas card exchange, which was warmly received.  

230 Christmas handmade cards by students from Lara Primary School and Lara Lake Primary School were delivered to Ingenia Lifestyle Village in Lara for their residents. EdConnect provided the schools with a list of resident’s names and they received a personalised card from a student.  

In return residents wrote back to the students wishing them a wonderful Christmas and thanking them for their cards. Some residents even included some small Christmas treats which could be shared with the class.
