On Friday 17 November, the Roy Hill Community Foundation (RHCF) showcased its health and education programs to more than 100 members of the Port Hedland community.
The event was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the RHCF Pilbara Mentoring program. The one-on-one student mentoring program run in partnership with EdConnect and Port Hedland schools, provides academic and social support for young people who might otherwise struggle to realise their potential in school and life.
Kelly Summers, Principal Hedland Senior High School said, “A mentor can make a genuine difference in a child’s life with just one hour a week and this program is getting some fantastic results, and making a real impact. This program really fits because it’s about local people helping students in their local community. Our kids have access and exposure to a whole range of different career pathways that they would possibly never have experienced, just living in Port Hedland. ”
