School mentoring and volunteer organisation EdConnect Australia has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

EdConnect Board Chairman Ms. Norma Jeffery said following an extensive panel assessment of national and international applicants, Ms. Geraldine (Gerri) Clay was selected.

Ms. Clay served as CEO at Independent Living Centre (WA) for more than 10 years and brings to EdConnect a wealth of strategic planning, corporate governance, financial management and stakeholder skills.

Ms. Jeffery says Not for Profit EdConnect offers a unique classroom focus and inspires older generation mentors and volunteers to motivate disadvantaged and at risk young people to thrive and to realise their educational goals.

Ms. Jeffery said Gerri will be based at the Perth office and is keen to further expand its services and contribute to positive changes in schools throughout Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

The Chairman acknowledged the valuable contribution of the outgoing CEO Mr. Jason Berry, who ‘steadied and guided EdConnect through a challenging phase to be more financially sustainable and the Board wishes him well in the future’.

EdConnect trains and organises volunteers nationwide to provide life-changing mentoring and learning support in schools for young people who are at risk of not fulfilling their potential.
