“The Board is delighted with the appointment and is confident that EdConnect will continue to flourish under this stewardship.”

An update from our Chairperson

As indicated earlier in January, Michael Pailthorpe will be leaving EdConnect Australia and his final day as CEO was Friday 31st January 2025. On behalf of the board, I thank him for the energy and vision he brought to the organisation. During his tenure, Michael focused on offering the benefits of our program to a larger number of young people, an important step in addressing the increased disengagement among school students. I am delighted to share an update on the appointment of the Acting CEO for EdConnect Australia.

I would like to thank the candidates who responded to the expression of interest for this role. After careful consideration, the board has appointed Danie McNeil as Acting CEO and Carol Shannon as Acting COO over a 6-month interim period, starting 1st February 2025.

The board is delighted that both Danie and Carol have accepted these roles and is confident that EdConnect will continue to flourish under their stewardship. Over the next six months, Danie will be based in Victoria and lead the organisation to deliver on our nation-wide commitments, with significant growth taking place on the East Coast.

Our objective remains to provide young people at risk with the best possible learning support and mentoring, by connecting them to the wonderful and dedicated volunteers we recruit, train and include in our vibrant community.

Warm regards,
Sabine Dejey
Chairperson, EdConnect Australia
