GERRI CLAY

Chief Executive Officer

Ba Applied Science Occ Therapy; Post Grad Dip Management Studies

Gerri Clay joined EdConnect Australia in February 2018.

She is a qualified occupational therapist who has substantial experience in the not-for-profit sector, in the UK and Australia managing teams and leading organisations. Her expertise includes community care provision across aged care, disability and mental health with specialisation in dementia care, assistive technologies and home modifications to maximise independence.

From 2004 to January 2018, Ms Clay was CEO of Independent Living Centre WA where she grew the organisation from $3M to a $14M turnover overseeing the strategy, governance and financial performance, people and culture. Prior to this she was General Manager of Alzheimer’s Australia WA.

BONNIE MCGREGOR

Finance Officer

Dip Accounting

Bonnie McGregor has been the Finance Officer since 2005. Previously, Bonnie had her own business operating the finances and also undertaking this for other small business owners. Bonnie believes in the real difference EdConnect can make in the lives of children and young people. She has a Diploma of Accounting and enjoys the challenge of the not-for-profit sector.

NARELLE LAING

General Manager East Coast

Narelle joined EdConnect Australia in May 2017.  She is a highly experienced manager and leader within the community development, local government and employment services sectors.  Narelle has an extensive background in managing not for profit organisations and teams, with a proven track record in developing and executing successful business turnarounds and new project initiatives.

Narelle has highly effective influencing and negotiating skills across a broad cross section of stakeholders including profit, non-profit and government partners.  Narelle is skilled in strategy development, operational efficiency, facilitation, engagement and providing stabilising and strengthening leadership to diverse teams.

Narelle is passionate about the important work of the not for profit sector with a belief that we certainly can make a difference to the lives of others each and every day.  Integrity in everything we do is essential, compassion and professionalism go hand in hand.

ROBERT MUNCE

Training Coordinator

B.Sc, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Cert IV in Sport Development

Robert has worked as a Trainer and Assessor in the not-for-profit and profit sectors for both private and government Registered Training Organisations. Robert has extensive experience designing and delivering vocational training to secondary school students and adults. Robert has delivered training to students participating in traineeship and institutional pathways. He has a passion for assisting people to take on new challenges and achieve their goals. Having a young family, Robert appreciates the positive influence role models can have on young people

Helen Jones is the Administration Officer for the organisation. She has extensive experience in administration having worked in the not-for-profit, for-profit and government sector.

JULIE MULLETT

South Metropolitan Liaison Officer

Julie has been working with EdConnect for over 5 years in the south metropolitan area.  She has previously worked with youth at risk through sport and recreation, and has over 10 years experience in both training and the community service sector.  Having worked in both government and not for profit organisations, as well as over 25 years of extensive volunteering roles, she is passionate about the needs of young people and is always in awe of the wonderful life long gift that the volunteers provide.

KAREN BARDEN

Rural Liaison Officer

Karen is the Liaison Office for rural WA and is based in Mandurah. Karen has a background working with children of all abilities and has extensive experience in the community sector cross all regions of WA.  Karen is currently studying towards a BA in Community Development and is committed to supporting communities to increase their resilience, wellbeing and connectedness.

SARAH WHITE

North West Metropolitan Liaison Officer

Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Teaching

Sarah comes to us with over twenty years experience working with youth in a variety of settings including owning and operating a Long Day Care Centre and as an ECE/Primary Teacher.  Sarah is passionate about each and every child’s right to be empowered and successful within the education system and believes that this is possible through the EdConnect program.  She believes that creating intergenerational connections benefits not only the student and volunteers, but the community as a whole.

KAREN VINCENT

North East Metropolitan Liaison Officer

BA, Cert 4 Community Services, Cert 4 Employment Services

Karen has over 10 years of experience working in the community services field, including education, housing and youth support programs.  Karen has previously worked in case management roles for government and non-government organisations and has an extensive knowledge of the issues impacting school-aged children and their families. Karen is passionate about making connections with people of all ages to benefit individuals and the community as a whole.

MEGAN BROUWER

Port Hedland Liaison Officer

Megan has a Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) from Curtin University and is very driven by the ethos of this science, to empower people to be the best version of themselves, which sits nicely with EdConnect Australia.  Megan has worked previously in a variety of mentoring roles, from supporting apprentices and trainees to complete their apprenticeships, to helping young children and teenagers facing homelessness.  She also has experience in the fundraising industry as a campaign manager.

GAYE WITNEY

Inner West Liaison Officer

RN. B.Ed, M.Training and Development

Gaye has over 20 years of experience working in health education, including nursing aged care, leisure and lifestyle, ESL education and youth support programs within TAFE.  Gaye has previously worked in auditing roles for government organisations and has an extensive knowledge of the issues impacting on younger disadvantaged people attempting study and mature disadvantaged students returning to study, the socio-economic issues faced by older people and the challenges they face in staying active and well – mentally and physically.  Gaye is passionate about making intergenerational connections within the educational system, to benefit both young and older people – knowing that all parties thrive when feelings of self worth are promoted.

TRISH JANNU

Northern Liaison Officer

Trish has been an EdConnect volunteer for 3.5 years and comes with an extensive background in education.  Trish is passionate about programs that lead to children developing a love of learning, particularly reading.   Her working career included roles such as classroom teacher, member of a school executive team, network facilitator responsible for the training and development of staff across a number of districts in N.S.W., co-ordinator of case meetings and programs for students with disabilities and support teacher responsible for the co-ordination and training of parents/volunteers.

CHRIS McGLADE

Geelong & Surf Coast Liaison Officer

Chris joined EdConnect in 2016 having been a volunteer on our program at Geelong High. Chris is a trained nurse and has a first hand understanding of intergenerational benefits. Chris is an active member of her community as rowing coach for a prestigious private school, hobby farmer, cyclist and mother. Chris has a BA Arts, a Cert IV Training and Assessment and a Diploma of Community Service.
